10 Designers Predict the Collectible Designs of Tomorrow
Before making design history, furnishings like the Eames lounge, Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona series, and Gerrit Rietveld’s Zig-Zag chair originated as fresh-faced ideas on the market (or, in Rietveld’s case, a practical joke). Of course, collectors at the time couldn’t have predicted how wildly iconic those pieces would become. And today, the same dilemma rings true: With so many new makers and artisans on the scene, how can one speculate who is likely to be the Charlotte Perriand or Jean Prouvé of tomorrow? We quizzed 10 interior designers for their insights.
